this is what we're fighting for

Global Warming Solutions

President Obama has announced what The New York Times called the “strongest action ever taken by an American president to tackle climate change.” The plan would limit—for the first time ever—carbon pollution from dirty power plants. Unfortunately, the climate science deniers in Congress are doing all they can to block the president’s plan. Environment America’s Global Warming Solutions team is mobilizing the political and public support we’ll need to ensure the deniers fail.

Clean Water for America

In May 2015, we celebrated when President Obama closed a decade-old loophole in the Clean Water Act that left the drinking water sources for one in three Americans at risk of pollution. We fought to close the loophole and now we’re activating the public and targeted constituencies to stop polluters and their allies in Washington from derailing the biggest victory for clean water in a decade.

Clean Energy

It’s time to put America on a path to 100% renewable energy. We’ve won commitments at the state and local level that fueled explosive growth in solar and wind power across the country. But we have a long way to go, and the Koch brothers and some utilities are spending heavily to block and roll back our progress. We’re calling on cities, states and even big-box stores to do more to go solar, promoting offshore wind along the Atlantic coast, and defending federal policies that help level the playing field for renewables.

Conservation America

What writer Wallace Stegner called America’s “best idea”—setting aside national parks for the benefit of all—has endured for almost 150 years. Today, however, some are pushing to sell off public lands, open them to fracking and mining, and prohibit the designation of more national monuments and wilderness. We’ve won support for new national monuments in California, New Mexico, Colorado and Washington State; we’ve defended the Land and Water Conservation Fund; and we’ve fought back against attempts to sell off, close or underfund both national and state parks.
