Margie is our chief strategist, top trainer and lead spokesperson, with more than 30 years of experience in developing staff, building organizations, and winning campaigns. She spearheaded our recent efforts to convince President Obama and his administration to restore Clean Water Act protection to nearly 2 million miles of America’s streams and to reduce carbon pollution from our nation’s power plants.
Anna is the director of our Washington, D.C., office, and the leader of our Global Warming Solutions program team. She has testified numerous times before the House and Senate science, energy and appropriations committees. She routinely earns a spot on The Hill’s top lobbyist list as she, according to The Hill, “executes a mix of inside persuasion and outside grassroots pressure at the scrappy green group.”
For more than three decades, Rob has led a series of campaigns that have reduced our nation’s carbon pollution, spurred the development of solar and wind power in dozens of states, and improved the fuel economy of our cars. Currently, he oversees our clean energy program, including campaigns to put America on a path to 100% renewable energy.
John has run successful campaigns to restore the Chesapeake Bay, halt the expansion of offshore oil drilling in the wake of the Deepwater Horizon spill, and protect the Grand Canyon from toxic mining. His current efforts include overseeing our clean water and anti-fracking programs.
Elizabeth coordinates and conducts media outreach and communications for Environment America. Before taking on her current role, she was the state director for Environment North Carolina for eight years, where she directed our communications, lobbying, outreach and fundraising in the state.
Kimberly’s organizing career began at Lehigh University, where she worked to eliminate the sale and use of plastic bottled water. Now she coordinates the Clean Water Network, a joint project of Environment America Research & Policy Center and 180 local and regional watershed groups.
Bret coordinates field and advocacy efforts for our Go Solar campaign. Prior to this role, Bret served for five years as an associate and then director of Environment Arizona. During that time, he successfully campaigned to stop new uranium mining around the Grand Canyon, passed local goals for clean energy, and led efforts to double the organization’s in-state membership.
Anusha got her start with Environment America through the fellowship program after graduating from the University of Illinois. As a fellow, she worked in Washington state on Environment America's Go Solar and Clean Water for America campaigns. Now as the Executive Assistant, she works directly with Margie Alt and program directors to coordinate communication, track organizational progress, and build systems to strengthen the organization.
