Advocate for changes to put America on the road to 100% renewable energy: More solar. More wind. Greater energy efficiency.

Environment America is seeking an experienced campaigner for our clean energy team to drive our campaigns for 100% renewable energy. This person will work with our national program team, local organizers, and other key allies across the country to build momentum, expand support, and win policies that accelerate the shift to renewable energy.

Our dependence on dirty energy sources like coal, oil, gas and nuclear energy, contributes to global warming, pollutes our air, land and water and leaves a legacy of waste. For the sake of our health, our environment and to protect the quality of life for future generations, we must shift from dirty to pollution-free energy options as quickly as possible.

To make our vision reality, we need raise the profile of clean energy, highlight the benefits, and get more people more engaged in holding our leaders accountable for moving America toward a future with 100% clean energy. We need to get more citizens, more opinion leaders, more people and more organizations representing varied and powerful constituencies engaged in the effort.

What you'll do

Campaign management: Work with our staff and our allies to develop and drive our 100% clean energy campaigns. This involves developing and executing our initiatives, managing our partnerships with allies, and meeting our strategic and tactical objectives.

Coalition building: Manage our partnerships with collaborating organizations and key players, cultivating relationships with diverse and powerful allies, and expanding the constituencies supporting our efforts.

Grassroots mobilization: Work with our organizers and advocates in states across the country to build our list of supporters, while also educating and mobilizing citizens. This also will also entail the distribution of compelling information to enlist more supporters, in addition to creating opportunities for action for our members and for the general public.

Media and visibility: Get the word out far and wide, in the media and through other channels. By elevating the issue in the public debate, we can better educate and motivate citizens while holding decision-makers accountable. Increasing visibility means greater exposure of our organization through public forums, speaking engagements, and in the media.

Research and policy: Manage research associated with the campaign, including hypothetical scenarios that illustrate the steps needed to reach our goal of 100% renewable energy – this helps people picture what they will experience in a 100% energy future in their homes, workplaces and neighborhoods.

Fundraising: Money makes the world go round. Raise money from foundations and donor citizen outreach and digital teams to raise money for the campaign.

Recruitment: Recruit new staff, interns and volunteers to increase our impact and build more sway.

Management: Coordinate staff working on the campaign including organizers and advocates and citizen outreach team working on the campaign and adding new staff over the course of the first two years.

Qualifications

Candidates should have five years of relevant professional experience.

Qualified candidates must have a demonstrated commitment to environmental issues and to citizen-based social change as well as a track record of leadership. We're looking for goal-driven and results-oriented individuals who have excellent verbal, writing and analytical skills, the ability to speak persuasively in a charged atmosphere, and enthusiasm for the work.

The ideal candidate will have policy, political advocacy and organizing experience, a proven ability to recruit, train, and develop staff and volunteers, fundraising experience, and demonstrated success in building relationships with environmental and political stakeholders.

Target annual compensation for this position is commensurate with the relevant professional experience and/or advanced degrees that a candidate has.
