Why now?
We want change.
We want a more equal and democratic America. We want [less gun violence]. We want [all women to have access to birth control and health care].
Yet on issue after issue, the forces of reaction are strong and they’re pushing back – whether it’s the [gun lobby], [political extremists] or [just people who are so confused and frustrated they’re ready to fall for the false promises of demagogues].
So: How can you help make positive change happen, when there are so many strong and powerful forces pushing back?
The answer: Change Corps.
Why we need to organize
We can start—in fact, we must start—by organizing the kind of public support and grassroots action that can persuade decision-makers to stop obstructing change and instead embrace it.
Depending on the issue, that could mean taking on a powerful corporation or industry, a dysfunctional Congress or legislature, anti-science climate change deniers or anti-birth control extremists. The people or forces lined up against change are strong, energized and organized.
Taking on these challenges and opponents—and winning—means making a smarter case for change, organizing more strategically for it, and working harder for it.
The good news? People like you. Bright, talented, passionate people who are willing to stand up and work hard for positive social change. The challenge, though, is finding a path that you can follow to help you start a career working on the issues we care about.
When you finish Change Corps, you’ll know how to organize people to get change unstuck, and we’ll help place you into leading organizations and campaigns, where you can become part of a wave of new organizers who will keep pushing and prodding our country forward for years to come.
